Furnace repair FAQ

Real questions from Portland-area customers booking furnace repair.

Still have questions?

Dispatch is open 7am–7pm Pacific, 7 days a week.

The visit starts with a $120 flat diagnostic, waived if you proceed with the repair. Furnace faults range from a flame sensor to a control board, so we don't quote repairs by phone — the technician gives you the full price on site, before any work starts, and you decide.
Usually one of five things: a dirty flame sensor, a failed igniter, a tripped limit switch from restricted airflow, a pressure switch fault, or the thermostat not calling for heat. All five are same-visit repairs in most cases. The technician confirms which one during the diagnostic.
Repair first — most no-heat calls are a part, not a new furnace. When a furnace is truly beyond economical repair we tell you at the diagnostic and can replace it like-for-like with your existing gas line, ductwork and venting. What we don't do is brand-new installations where no system existed before.
Yes. Redline holds Oregon CCB license #257205 and Oregon BCD HVAC/R specialty license LHR761 — both verifiable with the state. Our technicians are EPA 608 certified for refrigerant handling on heat pumps and mini-splits.
We show you exactly what we found and walk you through the options — on most furnaces that means a replacement rather than a patch, and we can handle that. If you smell gas before we arrive, call NW Natural first, then us.
Most jobs booked before noon get a same-day visit. Evenings and weekends, next-day. Dispatch is open 7am–7pm Pacific, 7 days, with a real human — no voicemail.
