AC repair FAQ

The visit starts with a $120 flat diagnostic, waived if you proceed with the repair. AC faults range from a capacitor to a compressor, so we don't quote repairs by phone — the technician gives you the full price on site, before any work starts, and you decide.
The usual suspects are a failed capacitor (outdoor fan or compressor won't start), a frozen evaporator coil from restricted airflow or low refrigerant, or a contactor that has burned out. All three are diagnosed on the first visit, and capacitor and contactor swaps are typically done the same day.
No. Turn the cooling off and run the fan only so the coil can thaw before we arrive — running it frozen can damage the compressor. A frozen coil is a symptom (dirty filter, failed blower, or low refrigerant), not the fault itself, and the diagnostic finds the cause.
Repair first — most no-cooling calls are a capacitor, contactor, or fan motor, not a new system. When a unit is truly beyond economical repair we tell you at the diagnostic and can replace it like-for-like on your existing line set and ductwork. What we don't do is brand-new installations where no system existed before.
Yes. Redline holds Oregon CCB license #257205 and Oregon BCD HVAC/R specialty license LHR761, and our technicians are EPA 608 certified, which is required by federal law to handle refrigerant.
Most jobs booked before noon get a same-day visit; in peak summer weeks we work first-come, first-served and tell you the honest next slot when you call. Dispatch is open 7am–7pm Pacific, 7 days, with a real human — no voicemail.
